CVR PRESENTS: AMiAM

Culture Vault Radio had a chance to chop it up with AMiAM, one of Orlando’s most Dynamic emcees. He had recently came home from a tour, and took the time to let us dive into his world with an exclusive interview. May I introduce to the world…AMiAM!!!

CVR PRESENTS:RUGGED “POWER MOVES” VIDEO SHOOT

R.U.G.G.E.D.

There are great rappers that are on-point with ridiculous bars and matched delivery. And there is R.U.G.G.E.D. who is those great rappers’ favorite rapper. Rowdy Unda Ground God Enjecting Dominance is the moniker for this ferocious rhyme spitter originally born in Jordan. This middle-eastern rap beast is known around the world for his vicious punchlines and lion-like presence on the mic.

Rugged’s roots in HipHop started in Orlando, FL, where he was part of a pioneer local group called Napalm Federation. He eventually met TzariZM & Synopse while freestyling in between classes at Seminole Community College. Once they linked, history was made and the Paradox Unit started their dominance in the Central Florida scene. Rugged released a solo EP “The Showdown”, arranged and mostly produced by TzariZM, back in 2002. This continued the buzz he generated at many open mics and battles he conquered in. Rugged was found killing shows and performances constantly on a regular basis hailing back and forth from Orlando to Tampa. Rugged also made a feature on a remarkably humorous jawn called “Drink Specials” that featured Celph Titled of Demigodz fame, Phil The Agony of Strong Arm Steady fame and long-time partner in crime producer/emcee, TzariZM. The track was released on Celph Titled & Apathy’s -”No Place Like Chrome” album released through Antidote Records based in the UK.

After a well needed break to settle and start a family, Rugged returned to the battle scene being a staple in the now world’s largest Hip Hop battle league Grind Time Now, with his battles receiving up to fifty thousand views on Youtube and popular urban site Worldstarhiphop.com. The passion is stronger than ever as he proves that he is a contender to be dealt not so easily.

In 2011, Rugged is set to give his music a rebirth to the masses as he works on a new EP to be produced by his Doxside family. You can also catch him on the highly anticipated DMG self-titled album by IMAKEMADBEATS dropping early 2011 as well. Let the Ruggedness begin.

AMIAM FEAT RUGGED * JONNY STORM * KAP KALLOUS * ILLUSTRATE * MYGRANE MCNASTEE – GO HARD OR GO HOME

Either at shows, to battles, to blogs, to even your own CD collection. There is a good chance you have heard of AMiAM. A young, Puerto Rican MC from Orlando (Ozone) by a way of NY, has been turning more heads than barbers in recent years. His witty lyricism and raw production style has earned him a respected spot in the underground. “I was born up top but, raised in Ozone. People think I came straight from New York because of my music but, a lot of New Yorkers live out here, especially on the east side. It’s a compliment though.” From recording his first freestyle at the age of 6 with his older brother MyGrane McNastee, to being a hardcore B-Boy in school, to nationwide tours, AMiAM is showing us that the so called “golden-era” is still among us.

Gracing the stage along with pioneers like Afrika Bambaataa, Grand Master Caz, KRS-One, DJ Premier and Rakim to the Wu-Tang Clan, Nas and Boot Camp Clik. AMiAM seems so comfortable performing it’s as if he was literally birthed on stage. His vibe and energy to command the crowd and the life of the party makes you remember why you actually loved the culture at point in your life. He has quickly become one of those “must-see” acts.

Although AM hasn’t released and official debut album, he still has put together a large number of acclaimed projects. Including The Beat Ministry vol.1, AmSouth Mixtape, New World Chaos’ Ozone 50 MC’s, Vets of Kin’s “Pestilence” and many more with his fellow veteran kinfolk. Currently focusing on his debut with Second Subject Recordings, AM finds himself a few steps closer to what he considers is his generation’s classic. “I’ve been compared to too many greats, far too many times to drop the ball. I grew up when Illmatic was something to compete with. Paid In Full was before that. I don’t feel that nowadays, so I’m going to create it myself.”

BOW & ARROW (SHABAZZ THE DISCIPLE & MURDOC) – LOOK UP

VIDEO DIRECTED BY CODRUM & SHABAZZ THE DISCIPLE.

Shabazz is possibly best known for his guest appearance on the 1994 Gravediggaz hit single “Diary of a Madman,” and for his controversial 1995 single “Death be the Penalty.” He formed the duo the Disciples with Killah Priest, and later formed Celestial Souljahz with Freestyle of the Arsonists.

Shabazz released a handful of singles in the mid-90s, such as “Death be the Penalty”, “Crime Saga”, “The Lamb’s Blood” and “Street Parables”, in anticipation of his planned 1998 debut LP on GZA’s GZA Entertainment imprint. However, the label folded and his relationship with the Clan soon strained, leading him to cut his Wu-affiliated ties.[3] He is also known for being an influence on the late Big Pun.

Shabazz finally released his debut album, The Book of Shabazz (Hidden Scrollz), in 2003, featuring his past singles “The Lamb’s Blood,” “Crime Saga,” “Street Parables,” and “Organized Rime Part 2,” as well as the single “Red Hook Day” b/w “Thieves in da Nite (Heist).” In 2008, Shabazz formed the group T.H.U.G. Angels with fellow Sunz of Man member Hell Razah and producer Ayatollah. The group’s debut, Welcome to Red Hook Houses, was released July 8, 2008, on Babygrande Records. Shabazz has a new album coming out in 2011 called Thug Bible LP
